THE ROLE OF SUSTAINABLE INNOVATIONS IN THE HEROES PROJECT
The HEROES project, funded by the European Union under the Horizon 2020 programme, concluded after three and a half years of work focused on accelerating the energy transition through the development of an innovative high-power, high-energy stationary storage system for fast charging of electric vehicles. This solution aimed to overcome current limitations of charging infrastructure, particularly in areas connected to low-voltage grids.
Sustainable Innovations played a key role in the exploitation process of the project’s results. It coordinated the market assessment, commercialisation strategy, and intellectual property protection, with the aim of enabling the future uptake of the HEROES technology across the European e-mobility sector.
Throughout the project, Sustainable Innovations led the development of the Exploitation Plan, business plans, and intellectual property management strategy. It was also responsible for the Data Management Plan and the identification of key exploitable results (KER), for which tailored exploitation plans were designed.
Thanks to this initiative, the HEROES project not only achieved technological progress in energy storage but also laid a solid foundation for its market introduction, thus making a strategic contribution to the decarbonisation of transport in Europe.
