The FASTEST project ran from June 2023 to May 2026 as a collaborative European initiative aimed at improving how batteries are tested and developed. Its goal was to make battery development faster, safer, and more cost-effective supporting the energy storage technologies of tomorrow.

Among its key achievements, FASTEST delivered a comprehensive testing framework integrating Design of Experiments, digital twins, and advanced modelling tools, alongside virtual testing methods that accurately replicate battery behaviour. These developments helped manufacturers reduce development times, improve safety assessments, and strengthen Europe’s battery ecosystem through greater digitalisation of research and development practices.

As Communication, Dissemination, and Exploitation partner, Sustainable Innovations Europe played a central role in ensuring the project’s results reached the right audiences including stakeholders, research organisations, and policymakers. SIE managed communication and dissemination activities throughout the project and co-organised the FASTEST Final Event held in Brussels in May 2026, which brought together experts to discuss the future of battery testing and showcase the project’s achievements. Through these efforts, SIE helped ensure that FASTEST’s innovations will continue to generate value for the European battery community beyond the project’s conclusion.
