SUSTAINABLE INNOVATIONS PRESENTS THE ALFA PROJECT AT THE SEPOR LIVESTOCK FAIR
On October 30, 2025, our Business Development Manager, Carla Sebastiani, and our Communications Manager, Daniel Matilla, participated in the SEPOR livestock, industrial, and agri-food fair in Lorca, Murcia, as part of the European ALFA project.
At the fair, the team presented ALFA, an EU-backed initiative promoting biogas technologies in the livestock sector. The project aims to harness manure generated on farms as a biomass source, thereby reducing animal waste emissions and promoting renewable energy in the agricultural sector. Within the context of one of Spain’s most prominent livestock fairs, the presentation highlighted the importance of integrating sustainable technology into the industry.
In her presentation, Carla provided an overview of the challenges faced by these technologies, such as a lack of technical knowledge, low social acceptance, and regulatory complexities. To address these issues, she explained that the project has established regional hubs in six European countries: Belgium, Denmark, Spain, Greece, Italy, and Slovakia, offering free technical and business support to farmers and biogas plant owners. She also highlighted digital tools created by the project, including a decision-making platform and a database of successful case studies to foster collaboration and knowledge exchange.
During the presentation, our team invited experts who contributed to reinforce the importance of biogas uses, such as Jacobo Bouzada, who represented JB Ingenieros in a presentation on the sustainable success and difficulties of biogas. On the other hand, , Amparo Fresneda from IDAE focused on the biogas roadmap and pre-feasibility studies.
Daniel expanded on ALFA’s communication and awareness initiatives. He explained that the project organizes a series of in-person and international seminars to increase knowledge and acceptance of biogas technologies within the sector. In closing, he emphasized the importance of SEPOR in this context, not only as a platform to promote sustainable technologies but also as a reference event that this year celebrated its 57th edition, providing a regional and in-person format supported by institutions, companies, and associations in the livestock, industrial, and agri-food sectors.
