THE STORY BEHIND THE ACRONYM SIE
In the European innovation ecosystem, it is common for organisations’ names to be shortened to streamline communication in proposals and technical documents. Our name, Sustainable Innovations Europe, is no exception. After years of active participation in Horizon Europe, the EIC Accelerator, and other European Commission initiatives, the acronym SIE has become the most widely used form among partners, consortia, and implementing agencies such as CINEA, REA and CBE JU when referring to the company.
This abbreviation not only facilitates the work involved in proposal writing, work package descriptions, communication and dissemination plans, and exploitation management, but it also reflects the constant presence of Sustainable Innovations (SIE) in European projects.
It is therefore no surprise that many organisations prefer to refer to us simply as SIE: a short, recognisable name associated with numerous EU-funded projects across a wide range of sectors, including bioeconomy, advanced materials, circular economy, and Industry 5.0. Whether one mentions Sustainable Innovations Europe or SIE, the reality remains the same: a leading innovation consultancy with a strategic role in shaping sustainable and competitive solutions for Europe.
