AMIGDALA, THE EUROPEAN PROJECT LEADING THE INDUSTRIAL TRANSFORMATION TOWARDS THE GREEN DEAL
- THE PROJECT, FUNDED WITH €7 MILLION, WILL DEVELOP INTEGRATED MODELS TO ANALYSE AND EVALUATE THE IMPACTS OF GOVERNMENT AND INDUSTRIAL DECISIONS ON THE ECONOMY AND THE INDUSTRY
- SUSTAINABLE INNOVATIONS WILL LEAD THE COMMUNICATION, EXPLOITATION AND THE STAKEHOLDER’S ENGAGEMENT
Madrid, February 2, 2024 – SUSTAINABLE INNOVATIONS, participates as a partner in the execution of the AMIGDALA project, an initiative of the European Union’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme formed by a total of eleven partners from different European countries.
With a duration of 48 months, the project will focus on developing an integrated model that analyses how governmental and industrial decisions (incentives, regulations, and investments) impact various aspects, from the economy to trade, as well as energy, material flows, and industrial production, both at the European Union level and in a global context. Furthermore, the project will evaluate how these decisions influence the adoption of transformative solutions, energy demand, carbon emissions, and material usage.
AMIGDALA will combine decision-making expertise with integrated scenario models to analyse transformation pathways, providing informed and strategic decision-making guidance to governments and industries aligned with the European Commission’s Green Deal.
SUSTAINABLE INNOVATIONS’ main activities will involve executing a detailed communication plan, exploitation tasks, intellectual property management, and stakeholder management in close collaboration with the consulting firm Deloitte.
“The goal of the Green Deal policy is to achieve climate neutrality by 2050,” stated Jesús Serrano, Deputy General Director of SUSTAINABLE INNOVATIONS. “The industry’s transition is a complex challenge, as it involves a coordinated response from demand, global trade, and industrial production in the face of policy measures. This commitment is a crucial step toward a more sustainable future and demonstrates Europe’s leadership in combating climate change.”
In summary, the AMIGDALA project aims to pave the way for a sustainable and climate-neutral future for the European Union. By combining decision-making insights with integrated models, AMIGDALA will offer a valuable tool for informed and strategic decision-making, allowing the European Union to work towards its sustainability goals.
The transition to climate neutrality challenges
The transition to climate neutrality and sustainability presents a series of complex challenges that affect the industry, the economy, and society as a whole. Among these challenges are the need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, adopt cleaner technologies, invest in sustainable infrastructure, and manage waste more effectively. Additionally, ensuring that this transformation does not have a negative impact on the economy and employment, as well as addressing differences among EU member states in terms of economic development and policies, are key concerns. International coordination to address climate change is also essential, as it is a global problem that requires concerted action. Overcoming these challenges is fundamental to achieving sustainability and climate neutrality goals, and initiatives like AMIGDALA seek to contribute to this task.
